"It's not has difficult as we think. With a lot of copyright free images and free software, you can create you very own designs."
She will show us digital design methods and give us the sources for printing our own designs on the fabric of our dreams, from silk to cotton.
Renee studied at The Theatre School of DePaul University and holds a degree in Costume Design. After graduation she designed costumes for many Chicago area theaters including Northlight, Steppenwolf and Court Theatres. She spent the next 10 years working as a costume designer. Eventually she transitioned to IT management and did not design or sew professionally for over 10 years.
When attending pottery classes to make commemorative tiles for her wedding at Lill Street Studios, she discovered screen-printing. She took classes in screen-printing and dying to improve her skills but was always interested in creating intricate repeat patterns. With the event of companies offering digital fabric printing online, she moved into that medium. Renee now creates custom fabrics using digital artwork and photography.
Renee is also busy creating her own flat patterns to compliment her digital designs and hopes to have these patterns (Renelope Patterns) available soon on her website www.renelope.com.
