Meet Cynthia Pigott, Special Events Chairperson

Hello!  This is the second year that I am assuming the role of the Special Events Coordinator for the Haute Couture Club of Chicago.  I am Cynthia Pigott.  Most of my friends and family call me Cindy but I also like my name of Cynthia, so either one is fine.  I have been a stay-at-home mom of three children, April, Bill and Madeline.  I have recently become a proud grandmother of my new granddaughter, Maizy Ann, April & Jason’s precious little girl.  I have been married to my husband, Dan, for 35 ½ years.  We have a very nice life together, and I love him and my family very much.  Other than my family, my other great love is sewing and designing different outfits for my family and myself.  I started on my sewing journey in Clothing 1 when I was a Junior at Resurrection High School in Chicago many moons ago and have never stopped. When I was 39 years old, I enrolled at The College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn and graduated with an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences in Fashion Design in June of 1999.  It took me five years to complete the program (at night school) while still raising my family.  I loved the program and learned a lot about flat pattern making, working with all kinds of different materials, learned to get my creative juices flowing and different sewing and finishing techniques.  This education has been invaluable, and I have sewn numerous garments over the years.   I am one of five children, and my husband is one of six children.  We have large extended families and have hosted countless family and friend parties at our home throughout the years.  These parties have ranged anywhere from six to fifty guests of which I make most of the appetizer and dinner entrees.  I love entertaining and making people feel welcome and want them to have a good time.  So, when the position of Special Events Coordinator became available, I felt I would be able to organize the Holiday Party and Spring Luncheon for the Haute Couture Club of Chicago.
I am enjoying this position, and my wish is that our members enjoy themselves at these two events.
