Meet Ankit Patel, Nominating Committee Chairperson
Ankit Patel just joined Haute Couture last year and took on the role of Nominating Chair. He was very enthusiastic to work with such a hard-working group of women who he looks up to as a sewing enthusiast. Ankit graduated from Loyola University of Chicago for a 2 year prerequisite program for his pharmacy schoolwork preparation before matriculating into a 4 year program at Midwestern University to become a Doctor of Pharmacy. He has worked at Target and Rush University Medical Center and is currently taking a break from work to focus on his creative arts. This past fall and winter, he took classes in fabric dying (indigo and other mediums), metal-smithing, ceramics, as well as drawing and figure drawing. He believes that these art forms would help with his creativity when he sketches and creates garments. Ankit first gained interest when he first watched an episode of Project Runway. He loved how confident the women felt walking down the runway adorned with a beautiful piece of wearable art. He wants to do the same in the future and he has many ideas of how he wants to get there. Ankit learned how to sew 4 years ago by taking classes with Tchad Elliott. He has experience in pattern-making and enjoys creating garments in this fashion. After taking a break from sewing this past half of a year, Ankit is fueled and ready to create some beautiful pieces to showcase.
