Meet Elizabeth Houlihan, Treasurer
Like many of us, I learned to sew by making doll clothes out of my mother's remnants. After Girl Scouts and 4H I sewed most of my clothes when I was in high school. I still have one beautiful wool paid, pleated skirt. Skipping ahead a few decades, I enjoy garment construction for myself and making gifts for family. Except for 1 semester of pattern drafting at Harper College, I am self taught with DVDs, books, seminars and trial and error - mostly the latter. My last major project was creating an "authentic" traditional Czech outfit from the Pilsen region for my niece, Miss Czech Illinois. Currently I am teaching beginning and advanced knitting at the College of DuPage. This requires a lot of samples so my sewing time has been limited. I am on the board of the American Sewing Guild as the Education Chairperson and the Treasurer of my homeowner's association. I am a retired CPA.
